Toll Road in West Bloomfield Township. This photo taken circa 1908 looks north up Orchard Lake Road at the intersection of Pontiac Trail where a tollgate house (center) and blacksmith shop (right) stood. The course of Orchard Lake Road south to this point and Pontiac Trail’s westerly direction from this intersection form a remnant of the old Pontiac and Adrian Road appoved in 1828. This was the second road cut in early West Bloomfield.
